ALMA MATER Words by: Sarah Collins Fernandis, 1882 Music by: Chauncey Northern, 1924 O Hampton, a thought sent from Heaven above, To be a great soul's inspiration; We sing thee the earnest of broad human love, The shrine of our heart's adoration. Thy foundation firm and thy roof tree out spread, And thy sacred altar-fires burning, The sea circling 'round thee, soft skies overhead, Dear Hampton, the goal of our yearning! Refrain O Hampton, we never can make thee a song Except as our lives do the singing, In service that will thy great spirit prolong, And send it through centuries ringing!

The Class Leader maintains contact with the Hampton University Office of Alumni Affairs on behalf of the class. Term of Office- Approximately five years, through the end of Reunion Year (June 30).
CO-CLASS LEADER works with the Class Leader and other officers in planning, organizing, and implementing class programs. The major role of a Co-Class Leader will be to oversee the communications efforts for the class. This includes establishing and implementing the Class Strategic Communications Plan and working closely with the Class Secretary and the Technology Chair. In the absence of the Class Leader, the Co-Class Leader exercises the powers and duties of the Class Leader.
SECRETARY has the important duty of keeping excellent records of the whereabouts and activities of classmates and actively solicit and communicate news about class members. If the Class Leader appoints a Co-Class Leader, the Class Secretary will work closely with that individual to implement the class communications strategy. Term of Office- Approximately five years, through the end of reunion year (June 30th)
TREASURER serves a critical role for the alumni class. While the president is responsible for overall leadership and for coordinating with all officers, the Treasurer is the most called-upon officer involved in strategic planning and finances for every program the class undertakes. The other class officers, classmates, and the Office of Alumni Affairs rely heavily on the Treasurer's attention to detail, patience, and diplomacy.
TECHNOLOGY CHAIR creates and maintains all class social media and approved webpages. A Technology Chair should have knowledge of or strong interest in learning to work with online mediums and an interest in creating strong communication vehicles for his or her class. Classes can elect additional officers, such as members-at-large or assistant officers, or an executive committee. The class leader can, also, consider additional volunteers as they near Reunion year- such as the Reunion Chair and the Reunion Gift Chair, in consultation with the Alumni Affairs staff.
